Band 3 Cancer Care Coordinator

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic person to work as a Cancer Care Coordinator in the Thyroid team. 

The role involves working within the MDT and alongside the band 6 Thyroid Clinical Nurse Specialist. 

The Thyroid MDT discusses patients both locally and regionally, having investigations and surgery for thyroid cancer. Patients who need to have additional treatments, predominantly radioactive iodine, are then referred to the Oncologists in Leeds as this is the main cancer centre in the area. Some of the patients are newly diagnosed, and some are on long term follow up or having treatment for disease progression.

The successful candidate will be responsible for triaging telephone calls, obtaining blood results and preparing clinics. There will also be some work supporting the Head and Neck nurses within the CNS team. We would like the role to develop to support thyroid patients on the ward after their surgery and also during their admission for radioactive iodine treatment.

The successful candidate will need to be self-motivated and enthusiastic with a professional attitude. You will be able to demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills, together with the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, effective time management skills, and the ability to organise yourself and others.
