We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified HCPC registered Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our Specialist Chemistry department within the Blood Sciences Laboratory, University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) NHS Trust. Although there will be a requirement to work at any of the UHL sites as appropriate for the delivery of the service, any time over a 24/7 period, the primary site will be the Leicester Royal Infirmary. The Blood Sciences Laboratory is accredited to ISO 15189:2012.

The Special Chemistry department provides a large repertoire of tests including a forensic and clinical toxicology service, drug adherence testing and other specialist biochemistry analysis. The forensic toxicology laboratory also provides a coronial toxicology service to various HM Coroners across England and Wales. The department is equipped with a large range of analysers including HPLC, LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, headspace GC-FID and Q-TOF.

The successful candidate will be a well-motivated team member who is able to prioritise and work on their own initiative with minimal supervision. The candidate must be able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills, a flexible approach and be capable of working accurately and efficiently under pressure. The ideal candidate will be HCPC registered, have a Specialist portfolio (or be able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge) in Chemistry and have experience and knowledge of chromatography and mass spectrometry methods including LC-MS/MS, Q-TOF and GC-FID. Experience of working in a toxicology laboratory would also be advantageous.
