The Becton Centre for Children and Young People is seeking to recruit suitably experienced and enthusiastic candidates to nursing vacancies.

Sapphire Lodge

Sapphire Lodge is an inpatient unit that caters for young people aged 13 – 18 who are experiencing complex mental health, emotional and behavioural difficulties. The unit has 14 inpatient beds, and accepts emergency admissions. We want make sure that every young person is able to maximise their potential for learning and independence, mental and social inclusion and to enjoy a safe, happy family life.

Our teams are multi-disciplinary and comprise of medics, nurses, health care support workers, psychologists, therapists, teachers, admin and support services who are committed to continued development and providing high quality care for young people and families. We offer assessment, care and treatment to help young people experiencing mental health difficulties including, mood, eating disorders, ASD, young people who pose a risk to themselves, or where there is diagnostic uncertainty. You must be person centred, recovery focused and flexible to the needs of the service. We will provide the opportunity to further enhance clinical skills through training and development and regular managerial and clinical supervision.

Amber Lodge

Amber Lodge is an intensive, specialist mental health service for primary school aged children (5-11) who are experiencing a range of complex mental health, developmental and emotional and behavioural issues. The service is focussed on the child and family in a holistic way, providing assessment and therapeutic services both in the home and in the community and in a day setting.

The multidisciplinary team at Amber Lodge are looking for a motivated nurse (RMN/RNLD) to join our team who has a passion for working with young people in a mental health day unit setting. The successful applicant will join a highly experienced staff team to assist children in exploring, understanding and managing their thoughts feelings and emotions by offering a range and assessments and interventions. Working alongside the multidisciplinary team at Amber Lodge, the successful applicant will support the delivery of individually tailored care plans to meet each child’s specific needs and contribute to the team formulation and assessment processes.

The work delivered on the Lodge is through a combination of day unit attendance and intensive community outreach to ensure a robust and comprehensive level of care is provided to the young people attending the Lodge. The nursing role is based predominantly on the day unit delivering structured/ unstructured/ individual/ group based work.

The team adopts a model of distributed leadership where leadership is an expectation of all in the team, using microsystems methodology to improve care quality. The successful applicant will be provided with support, training and guidance to allow them to shape the direction of the team alongside young people, their families and colleagues.

Amber Lodge is based at the Becton Centre is Sheffield and managed by Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. Working hours are Monday to Friday 0830-1630. Please note, the job description for this role is in the additional documents.
