As Deputy Head of Nursing, you will be part of the ITAPS senior Clinical Management Group team that leads and manages a diverse range of clinical services and professionals.

Our Intensive Care Units and Theatre departments have had recent investments to prepare us for the longer term reconfiguration of the Trust with exciting new builds on the horizon. Our Intensive Care Units are funded to provide circa 50 beds across the Trust and our Theatre ODP and Nursing teams normally deliver over a hundred thousand sessions in more than 50 operating theatres covering a diverse range of specialities that are often exemplars of surgical practice within the region.

Our CMG manages Pain services including the Trusts inpatient acute pain team alongside the chronic and outpatient pain and also the Sleep studies department. Our nursing teams also provide trust wide patient care to adult inpatients, via our Out of Hours Response Team, and our Deteriorating Adult Response Team.

As a Deputy Head of Nursing you will of course be required to provide a highly visible presence to all our Nursing and ODP teams and lead our Matrons/Lead Practitioners to deliver high quality, safe patient care. But in additional we also need our senior Nursing and Allied Health Professional teams to work on delivering the wider agenda including shared decision making, growing leadership skills, professional development and well-being for staff.

You will be required to work with, and deputise for the Head of Nursing and together with our Operational and Clinical teams balance managing day-to-day quality, safety and risk agendas while also ensuring that as a CMG we are planning for future developments, preparing for change and innovation in Nursing and ODP workforce and practice all within financial controls.

The Head and Deputy will be leading on standards using governance frameworks for patient and public involvement, triangulation of patient feedback, audit, education, policies and guidelines, safeguarding and infection prevention for the ITAPS CMG.

The Deputy Head of Nursing will be a senior leader within the Trust and be required to undertake wider responsibilities such as CMG on-call commitments and tactical command.

All this means that we are looking for an inspiring and motivated nurse, committed to the delivery of high standards of compassionate care and with the ability to challenge and influence practice. You will be a champion of the Nursing, ODP and Allied Healthcare Professions and challenge the status quo of healthcare delivery.

You will need to have experience of leading nursing and clinical services as well as a proven track record putting safety, quality and patient experience at the heart of all you do.

If you have the drive, ambition and passion to make a difference then we would welcome your application.
