The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) is the independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance and advice on promoting high quality health, public health and social care.

Our role is to improve outcomes for people using the NHS and other public health and social care services. We do this by:

  • Producing evidence-based guidance and advice for health, public health and social care practitioners.
  • Developing quality standards and performance metrics for those providing and commissioning health, public health and social care services;
  • Providing a range of information services for commissioners, practitioners and managers across the spectrum of health and social care.

Programme Director – Transformation

We have modern offices in Manchester city centre and Stratford, London. However, we are all working from home at the moment due to Covid-19 restrictions. Please take into consideration that you may be required to commute to one of our offices when we are all allowed to do so again.

As a result of the above we are looking for a skilled Programme Director - transformation to guide the organisation through this period of dynamic transformation building on the progress already achieved through our transformative Connect programme.

The Role:

Reporting to the Director of Finance, Strategy and Transformation.

The post holder will:

  • Be responsible for the Strategy and Transformation Unit.
  • Have responsibility for planning, implementation and oversight of a programme of activities across the organisation that lead to the transformation of NICE.
  • Provide strategic advice and expert input into NICE’s transformation steering group, requiring significant practical experience of digital development, change and transformation.
  • Work with senior business leaders to gain a good understanding of how NICE outputs are developed and used, and will be used in the future, from a public, professional and commissioning perspective both by individuals and digital systems.
  • Engage with external organisations, including sponsors, academics and other arm’s length bodies.

What you will bring to NICE:

Must haves

  • Experience of developing transformation strategies to meet changing organisational needs.
  • Significant experience of working in a senior manager role to deliver transformation activity in a complex environment.
  • Extensive experience of practical delivery of transformation approaches and the programme and change management activities required to enable transformation.
  • Significant experience of setting up, managing, developing, and improving systems and processes for successful change management and transformation.
  • Experience in supporting change in a complex environment persuading and influencing key stakeholders.

The Department:

The Finance, Strategy and Transformation directorate is responsible for finance, procurement, strategy, transformation, human resources, corporate governance and estates and facilities management for NICE.
