Band 2 for Virology to work in the COVID-19 Specimen Reception

The Virology Department, Berkshire Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS) is looking for a number of band 2 staff to carry out specimen reception and data entry tasks for the COVID-19 antibody and PCR testing laboratory. Experience with Lab Centre and Winpath Enterprise would be an advantage, but not essential.

The posts are a mixture of bank and fixed term contracts (fixed term for 12 months)

The service operates from 07.00 – 2am, most vacancies are for the shift 14.45 – 23.00. Part time working, so a reduced number of days, will be considered. Once you become more experienced in the role, you may be expected to include in your working pattern the late shift which is 22.30 – 02.00.

    • Capability to work under pressure and meet team deadlines
    • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
    • Self-motivated with a desire to develop own knowledge and skills

Our main sites are Ashford Hospital, TW15 3AA near to Heathrow Airport and St Peter’s Hospital, KT16 0RQ which is close to junction 11, M25. We also operate services at Woking Bradley Unit and Milford Hospital. A free shuttle bus service operates between Ashford & St Peter’s Hospitals.
