We are seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly motivated qualified Band 4 Nursing Associate wanting a new challenge to join our Respiratory Specialist Nursing team at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. We would also like to invite applicants that are due to completed their Nursing Associate training in June 2021.

This is a new full time (37.5 hour) post and a job share could be considered.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our friendly, enthusiastic multidisciplinary specialist respiratory team dedicated to providing individualized evidence based care; developing and improving our expertise to deliver a holistic approach to our patients with respiratory conditions in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment. You will be working within a supportive multidisciplinary team, caring for patients with respiratory conditions predominately asthma.

The post holder will be expected to be an active member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) who will maintain their role boundaries, be considerate and compassionate in their delivery of care. The Nurse Associate’s role will be to bridge the gap between direct patient care and our role as Clinical Nurse Specialists.

The fundamental focus of the post will be in direct care with patients, supporting consultant and nurse-led clinics in outpatients with inhaler technique, asthma management plans and lung function, managing patient telephone calls, patient transition to the adult services, direct observational therapy with patients and will include administration duties.

To be successful, the candidate will need to be enthusiastic, forward thinking, resilient, have excellent communication skills with a passion and commitment to support our patient’s physical health needs.

As this is a new post for the team the job description is intended as an outline of the expected general areas of activity and therefore may be amended according to the changing needs of the service. Any amended changes will be reviewed in conjunction with the post holder on a regular basis. You also may be required to work at other locations within the Trust as determined by the duties of your post.

In line with other NHS Organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region a successful candidate appointed into a post within this Trust will be required to pay the DBS check fee (£45). This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
