Southern Health is one of the largest Foundation Trusts in the UK, specialising in mental health, adult and child community health and learning disabilities.


Ravenswood House is a medium secure unit providing assessment, care and treatment for adults with serious mental illness. We provide high quality care and treatment to 68 male adults split across four clinical wards. Our service is for people with serious mental illness and / or personality disorder who need to receive their care in a medium secure environment. Most of our patients have either committed a criminal offence, or have challenging behaviour. We admit patients from high secure hospitals, local psychiatric hospitals, prisons and the courts.

As a Health Care Support Worker you will work closely with service users, their families, friends and carers. You will play an important role in ensuring those who use our services have a positive and supportive experience. Successful candidates will need to be kind and responsive and remain professional and informative and contribute to the quality of the services we provide.You will need to have good communication skills and be able to demonstrate a caring and supportive approach to working. Experience within a forensic environment is not essential, but a compassionate and caring nature is.

Southern Health Foundation Trust (SHFT) is committed to promoting the welfare and safeguarding of children, young people and adults at risk of abuse and neglect. As an employee, you are accountable to ensure that you know to how to respond when you are concerned for the safety of a child, young person or adult at risk, applying the principles of the Family Approach to ensure evidence based analysis, risk management and appropriate action and escalation. SHFT require staff to work effectively together using the Family Approach to achieve better outcomes for adults, children and families. The Trust will support you in this duty by providing ongoing training, support and advice and have a Corporate Safeguarding Team who can be contacted for guidance and the provision of safeguarding supervision.
