Our Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Services are looking for dynamic nurses and midwives to train for the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Qualification, allowing you to become a Health Visitor or School Nurse.  The qualities and values we are looking for are:  effective communication skills to support and empower families and young people, having a professional manner at all times with partner agencies, being flexible and a reliable team player with the ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload and an approach suited to community working.

Since 2017, Virgin Care in partnership with Barnardos working together as The Essex Child and Family Wellbeing service have delivered innovative and refreshing health and social care pre-birth to 19 years services to Essex Families. We have developed our own unique approach where our families are at the centre of everything we do and right now, we’re looking for a Healthy Family Team Leader to lead in ensuring the development and effectiveness of their specific multi-disciplinary integrated care teams.

Successful applicants will take part in a full time training course (50% theory & 50% practice) combining study and clinical learning in both university and practice placements delivered by Anglia Ruskin University.  The university will provide the theoretical knowledge and skills to ensure high quality, evidence based assessment, delivery and evaluation of care in relation to child/family need and will include the protection of children.  Practice placements are across Essex and facilitated by practice teachers and mentors within the 0-19 Child & Family Wellbeing Service, who work closely with the universities to ensure seamless links between the theory and practice of these specialist roles.


Entry requirements include current nursing/midwifery registration and/or a nursing/midwifery degree or diploma (a minimum of 120 Level 2 CAT points Diploma); the ability to travel extensively across Essex and the surrounding areas to meet both the educational and clinical requirements of the course, along with having access to your own vehicle.  


On successful completion of the course the post holder will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a specialist community public health nurse (Health Visitor/School Nurse)
