Communications & Engagement Officer

Approval has now been granted for a shared patient record between Eastern Devon and Northern Devon as part of the continued partnership and proposed integration of NDHT and RD&E with a go-live date planned for Summer 2022. This is a fantastic investment to improve the care and services we provide for our patients and community. Improving the visibility of information between our teams will also help improve safety and quality through supporting our teams to work together and make decisions leading to better outcomes for our patients.

As part of the continued partnership and proposed integration of Northern Devon Healthcare Trust (NDHT) and Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust (RD&E), we are embarking on an exciting major programme to develop a shared patient record system between Eastern Devon and Northern Devon. The MY CARE system is planned to go live in Summer 2022, and will be a fantastic investment to improve the care and services we provide for our patients and community.

We are now seeking an experienced Communications and Engagement Officer to support this exciting programme. This will be an exceptional opportunity to be involved in a high profile, large scale change programme from launch to ‘go-live’, where effective engagement and communications with its stakeholders is vital to its success.

A multi-skilled, experienced and enthusiastic communications and engagement professional, the successful candidate will be responsible for internal and external communications for the MY CARE Programme as well as PR, media enquiries and stakeholder engagement. You will also be part of the wider communications and engagement team supporting other emerging programmes of work.

Working alongside the MY CARE Communications and Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the MY CARE programme’s plans and providing a comprehensive and highly effective approach to communications and engagement to ensure our patients; public and stakeholders understand and are engaged in our plans to benefit patient care and the communities we serve.

As a result, the role will be fast-paced, high-profile and extremely rewarding. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written, verbal and multi-media skills, be well organised and able to work to high standards, with a sharp eye for detail. You’ll also thrive on hard work, unpredictability and tight deadlines and not be afraid of a challenge.

This is an exciting time to join NDHT and be part of a team working together to lead to better outcomes for our patients. The Communications and Engagement Officer position is available from June 2021 as a secondment or fixed term contract (until September 2022) with potential for a further extension and/or permanent employment thereafter.

The MY CARE Programme will only be delivered in Northern Devon Healthcare Trust successfully if we establish an enthusiastic, hard-working and dedicated Programme Implementation Team. As part of the team we need to employ staff from all areas of clinical practice, administrative and clerical, and corporate areas such as HR, Service Development and Information Management and Technology.
