Department:
Human Resources
Location:
Exeter & Barnstaple
Salary:
£45,753 - £51,668

***Please note that all applications will require a CV and covering letter to be uploaded***

As there is an expectation of work being undertaken across both locations (NDHT and RD&E), the advertisement for this role will appear on each Trusts’ NHS Jobs page, however it should be noted that there is one role and not two.

The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust (RD&E) provides Acute and Community services across Exeter and East Devon serving a population of more than 450,000 people. In our latest CQC full inspection of our services, the RD&E received an overall rating of “good”. We were rated as “outstanding” for our Emergency and Critical Care services, and for Caring Trust wide.

At Northern Devon Healthcare Trust, we do things differently. We are a small, innovative and friendly Trust making a big difference to people’s lives in northern Devon. Our 300-bed acute hospital in Barnstable provides a 24/7 emergency service and is a designated trauma unit operating within a trauma network service the whole of Devon and Cornwall. We also offer a range of general medical services, including cardio-respiratory, stroke care and gastroenterology.

Enjoy a good quality of life in the South West and be part of our caring workforce.

The RD&E and NDHT Boards have set out a clear vision to guide inclusion work, with a desire to be recognised both within the local community, and nationally, as an employer of choice and exemplar organisations that value diversity and are truly inclusive.

The Inclusion Lead will develop and lead delivery of an inclusion plan across both Trusts to meet this vision as well as providing expert support to both Boards on this agenda.

The post holder will lead the delivery of long-term inclusion strategies and the systems to support them to bring our Trust values to life. Through the inclusion programme, the post holder will enable us to listen to what matters to our people enabling them to be heard, connect all parts of the wider community and support people to innovate and establish world-class care and services.

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate with a wealth of experience of working at senior management level of large/complex organisation. Evidence of collaborative working with partner organisations resulting in successful innovation and change is vital and being able to articulate and demonstrate leadership that enables diversity in all its forms to thrive is essential.

Working together gives us the opportunity to offer unique and varied careers across our services, combining the RD&E’s track record of excellence in research, teaching and links to the university with NDHT’s innovation and adaptability.

Upon appointment to this post, there will be an expectation of work being undertaken across both locations (NDHT and RD&E), which will be agreed as part of the Job Planning process.

This post is being offered as Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust and the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust continue to develop our long standing partnership with a view to becoming a single integrated organisation across Eastern and Northern Devon. Working together gives us the opportunity to offer unique and varied careers across our services combining the RD&E’s track record of excellence in research, teaching and links to the university with NDHT’s innovation and adaptability.

Our values guide everything we do. At all times, we aim to:

  • Demonstrate compassion
  • Strive for excellence
  • Respect diversity
  • Act with integrity
  • Listen and support others

Our teams of care professionals work with patients and their families to support peoples’ independence, health and wellbeing. We provide support to avoid hospital admissions, and if an admission is necessary, we try to make each patient’s stay in hospital as short and effective as possible before working with them on a safe discharge home.

In our most recent staff survey, our staff voted us in the top 10% of NHS provider organisations to work for and we also came out as the top provider in the South West for our overall results. Our patients (through the Friends and Family Test) regularly report an average of over 95% satisfaction with our services.

Please note that we may close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applicants.

Pay award due with effect from Thursday 1st April 2021, implementation pending NHS Employers publication.
