Chief Clinical Information Officer / Clinical Safety Officer

Job Reference: 432-MR1673

East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust
Ipswich & Colchester Hospitals, Ipswich & Colchester
£82,096 - £110,683 per annum

We are one of the largest organisation in the Eastern region. Our scale provides exciting opportunities for development, innovation, research, education and training.

We want the best staff. You want to make a difference.

As a result of the merger of Colchester and Ipswich hospitals on the 1st July 2018, East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust (ESNEFT) is one of the largest NHS organisations in the region, employing over 10,000 staff and serving a population of almost 800,000 residents. The merger means we can provide the latest treatments locally, and be in a stronger position to save, grow and strengthen the many hospital and community services our residents rely on.

ESNEFT is an ambitious trust with a simple vision, to provide the communities we serve with excellent healthcare and build a better future for the people of east Suffolk and North Essex. To help us do this, we will work closely with our local partners to deliver more of the joined-up services and care our residents need.

For our staff and our patients, we have the same philosophy: time matters. This new way of working will remove unnecessary stress and frustration caused by the systems we use and the way we work. We will concentrate on removing or improving the things we do that don't work for our patients. For our staff, this means more time to care for patients and greater opportunities to develop skills and experience.

ESNEFT has recently been named as one of 32 trusts to receive seed funding as part of the second wave of the national digital aspirant programme, run by NHSX. As a result, we are seeking to expand our clinical capabilities and appoint a visionary leader to fill the roles of Chief Clinical Information Officer/CSO (CCIO).

The CCIO/CSO role offers 1 PA and will join a team of 3 existing CCIO’s to lead the Digital agenda across the clinical workforce. You will be responsible for representing the interests of clinical colleagues in relation to IT systems, whilst completing system risk assessments to ensure they are fit for purpose and support safe practice.

The expectation of the roles is to provide clinical leadership, clinical engagement and cross system partner engagement to outline the digital roadmap with a focus on specific aspects of the integrated care systems future. The role will also work closely with our system partners to ensure close digital alignment.

This post will have key responsibilities. You will:

  • Be an active member of the Trusts eHealth Programme Group
  • Clinically lead our Digital and EPR strategy ensuring patients are at the heart of our digital journey
  • Lead clinical engagement across all professional groups
  • Be responsible for clinical safety of all digital solutions
  • Define and support clinical benefits realisation of all digital solutions.
  • Work alongside our clinical and corporate teams to deliver the best possible EPR development and implementation.

The CCIO/CSO will report directly to the Medical Director and work closely with the Digital Senior management team and the Director of ICT.

If you have the vision and enthusiasm to play a leading role in our digital strategy and share our commitment to put patients at the heart of everything we do and save both staff and patient time, then we’d love to hear from you. If your ambition matches ours, it’s time to work together.
