Band 5 Staff Nurse, Interventional Radiology and Imaging

The Interventional radiology department at Imperial is based at three main sites i.e. Charing Cross, Hammersmith and St Marys.

Our department is full of opportunities for newly qualified nurses, as well as those who are looking to develop new skills, to get involved in quality improvement and collaborate with multidisciplinary team. The department is open from 08:00 to 18:00 with on-call service cover after 18:00 and weekends.

You will be admitting and caring for patients before, during and post invasive procedures, including scrubbing, circulating and recovery.

Hammersmith Imaging provide a wide range of procedures including:

  • Interventional radiology – angiogram/plasty, embolization, stenting and hysterosalpingogram (HSG)
  • Ultrasound – biopsy, drainage etc.
  • CT – biopsy, drainage, organ ablation etc.
  • Nuclear medicine – cardiac stress test
  • Recovery – receive and recover patients post procedure, including sedation and post general anaesthetic

Your development is our priority and we will support you as you get to grips with our state-of-the-art technology and equipment.

When you join the Interventional Radiology Nursing team, you will be participate in our local orientation programme which will allows for cross site experience i.e.

  • Charing Cross Hospital – neurological, stroke, thrombectomy and oncology
  • St Mary’s Hospital – vascular and trauma
  • Hammersmith Hospital – renal, haematology, pulmonary and hepatobiliary

You will receive further support from our clinical educator in a friendly team environment and be able to broaden your nursing experience by working within a multi-disciplinary team.
