THIS POST IS A BANK POSITION TO MEET THE NEED TO EXPAND SERVICE OPENING HOURS AND TO MAINTAIN SERVICE DURING PERIODS OF ANNUAL LEAVE/SICKNESS

Interview: 4th and 5th May 2021

Location: Telford and Shrewsbury - flexible to support service provision

Hours: Service hours 08.00 – 20.00 which will be reviewed in line with increased service demand. Shifts would be predominantly short shifts, 8-4, 4-8, with some options for longer shifts, as required.

Testing is a key pillar of our strategy to protect the NHS and save lives and forms part of the governments longer term strategy to help defeat this disease. This service provides Pillar 1 testing. Our ultimate ambition is that anyone who needs a test should have one.

This is a great opportunity to help us to enhance our team who provide community testing across Shropshire Telford and Wrekin designed to keep our staff and patients safe. We are looking for Bank clinical staff to work as part of the Testing Team. We are looking for team members with a flexible approach.

HCAs ideally need to be familiar with the fundamental principles of Infection, Prevention and Control. The main responsibilities of the HCA role include undertaking the PCR test (swab) from patients with either a suspected case of coronavirus or patients who require testing as part of their pathway e.g. pre-procedure testing.

You must be able to meet the travel requirements of the post, in order to support the service with home testing, for patients who are unable to travel to the drive-thru testing sites.

Full training will be provided.

The testing hub consists of drive thru sites at Telford and Shrewsbury.

*** Important information regarding DBS checks *** If the position being applied for requires a DBS check to be undertaken on you, you are required to pay the fee for the DBS check which is £50.00 for an Enhanced check and £30.00 for a Standard check

Staff who are new to the NHS will normally start on the bottom increment of the payscale advertised. From 1st April 2019 new starters to the NHS or those promoted to a new role will be subject to pay progression arrangements as contained in Annex 23 of Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions.

BANK: If you are applying for a bank position, please ensure you are able to meet the minimum shift requirements:

  • Clinical Bank Workers – To ensure professional practice and competence is up to date a minimum of 6 assignments must be undertaken in each period of 3 months and you must attend any training you are notified of. It is your responsibility to provide evidence that your professional practice is up to date.
  • Non-clinical Bank WorkersA minimum of 1 assignment must be undertaken in a 6 month period and you must attend any training you are notified of.
