Location:
Westhampnett Centre, Chichester
Salary:
£19,737-£21,142

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) is the largest community healthcare provider in Sussex.

  • Over 5,000 full and part time staff, with 4,000 people registered on our bank
  • Medical, nursing and therapeutic care provided to over 9,000 children and adults a day
  • July 2018 Care Quality Commission (CQC) rating of ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ features
  • Flexible working patterns offered across our services
  • BAME, Disability, LGBT+ and Religion and Belief staff networks
  • Disability Confident Employer – Level 2

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Immunisation Assistant to join our school-aged Immunisation Service. The post is for 37.5 hours worked over 5 days 8-4 (we would consider job share).

This will be a Fixed Term contract until 31st August 2021

SCFT's Immunisation Service vaccinates children in schools and clinics across West Sussex, East Sussex and Brighton and Hove.

Although this post is based within the Chichester team our whole service approach requires joint working across the whole of Sussex.

Our innovative and dynamic Immunisation teams are dedicated to improving immunisation uptake and delivering the national evidence-based Schools’ Immunisation Programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding service.

You will be providing support to the Immunisation Service, which will include providing clerical and clinical support in schools, clinics and patients' homes. You will also be working with hard to reach groups such as travellers and children who are looked after. It is an exciting role as our programmes incorporate the flu vaccinations that are being offered to all school children from reception age to year six, in addition to our senior school vaccination programmes. You will give immunisation information talks to parents at new parents' events and to students in assemblies.

The successful candidate will prepare the documentation and assist with the running of the vaccination sessions, and be expected to accurately process the completed session paperwork.

The ability to communicate well and remain calm at busy immunisation sessions is essential, as one aspect of your role will be to provide reassurance to anxious children.

You will need to demonstrate your familiarity with Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience of data-inputting is preferable but training will be given.

We welcome applicants who can demonstrate a willingness to work flexibly and cooperatively with colleagues both within their own team and the wider multidisciplinary teams across the whole SCFT area, and who are motivated, conscientious and committed to supporting us to maintain high vaccination coverage across Sussex.

The role requires core working hours of 8am-4pm, with flexibility at either end of the day for packing of vaccines and clinic cover, on a rota basis within the team.

All team members support the whole of the SCFT Immunisation Service, so you must be a car owner/driver and be willing to travel to clinics and schools within Sussex.
