Paramedic Practitioner

An exciting opportunity has arisen for full time/part time paramedic, to join a growing multi-disciplinary team of delivering care to patients at Benfield Valley Healthcare Hub.

Salary will be equivalent to NHS Band 6/7, depending on experience. You will have access to NHS Pension.

Main duties of the job

The paramedic will enjoy working autonomously alongside a team of GPs, ANPs, Practice Nurses and Pharmacists to deliver both pro-active and re-active care, with a focus on assessing and responding to appointment requests from patients. Primary care experience is not essential, however, a good understanding of how Primary Care works would be beneficial. Most importantly the right candidate will have a strong desire to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients and have the motivation and flexibility to help develop the services as the team evolves to meet the needs of the population.

Job Summary:

To provide a high-quality service to the patients of Benfield Valley Healthcare Hub; diagnosing and prescribing treatments and medication while working within defined procedures and protocols in accordance with local policy and guidelines.

To work as part of a clinical team, with GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistants with the practice.

To be responsible for delivering phone and face to face patients in practice and visiting patients in their place of residence, who present with a wide range of minor illness, urgent and same day requests for treatment and chronic disease management; providing care for the presenting patient from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care.

The post holder will need to demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care, including assessment and diagnostic skills. There will be the need to prioritise and triage the needs of patients accordingly making any necessary referrals for investigations in the appropriate manner.

  • BSc in a training programme approved by the College of Paramedics
  • Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
  • able to operate at an advanced level of clinical practice
  • Framework for Higher Education Qualification (FHEQ) Level 7 or Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCOF) Level 11


  • Pre-reg MSc in a training programme approved by the College of Paramedics
  • non-medical prescribing qualification
  • Full UK driving license



  • experience in managing a designated caseload using theoretical and practical experience, completing assessments, planning, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes aligned to care plans
  • working knowledge of Microsoft and GP practice and prescribing data monitoring systems
  • ability to write comprehensive clinical notes, implement and evaluate care plans
