Occupational Therapist - Band 7

Respiratory Team - Long Covid Service

15 Hours per Week - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

We are looking for a highly skilled, caring Mental Health Occupational Therapist to join our flourishing Long Covid Assessment team.

As the mental health Occupational Therapist you will be working with the clinical team in the south of the region, based at 5 Rivers in Salisbury to develop the Long Covid service, evaluate and implement timely changes. You will assess, treat and develop interventions for people who have mental health issues in response to the impact of their Long Covid Symptoms.  The post holder is expected to have experience of working with clients with anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorders. They should have experience of cognitive behavioural models of working and of running small groups. This is a unique opportunity to support and contribute to the emerging knowledge, expertise and skill development regarding Long Covid. You will be expected to work closely with clinicians across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire, sharing your knowledge and skills through training and educational events and supervision.  

The Wiltshire Health and Care is working in partnership to provide the BSW (Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Health and Care single point of access Long Covid Rehab Assessment service. This is the first clinical service that has worked within our emerging integrated care system. This post will help to support the delivery of this service.

The BSW Long Covid Rehab assessment team is made up of respiratory nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, rehab support workers and is supported by a multi-disciplinary team from across BSW comprising Cardiologist, Respiratory Consultant, Local GP’s, Commissioners and allied health professions. The service was set up in December in response to the pandemic and the emerging needs of patients suffering with long lasting Covid symptoms.

Depending on the successful candidate experience supervision will be provided within the team from peer supervision, from our experienced band 7 Occupational Therapist Programme lead and can also access case by case support within the MDT.
