We have exciting opportunities for experienced Band 5 Biomedical Scientist to join the Staff Bank, based at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth.

Portsmouth is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country. Joining the Staff Bank as an Biomedical Scientist can offer you a more flexible shift pattern, as well as the opportunities to work across different departments, gaining invaluable skills and experience.

This role will be Monday to Friday 08:00-16:00 or 09:00-17:00.

Essential Requirements;

  • BSc (Hons) or equivalent in Biomedical Sciences.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Proven experience of working in a busy Histopathology laboratory
  • Ability to use highly automated equipment.
  • Ability to maintain standards of accuracy and hand to eye coordination in repetitive manual techniques and working in a methodical and organised manner.
  • Ability to undertake the technical validation of results
  • The ability to work using own initiative and without supervision.
  • Interpretation of diagnostic laboratory results
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Health and Safety legislation and procedures
