Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) provides a range of community health, mental health and learning disability services for people of all ages. Delivered through over 100 settings from inpatient wards to out in the community, our 6,500 staff serves over 1m people living in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.


Due to additional funding and internal promotion exciting opportunities have arisen for two Band 6 Occupational Therapists to join our new rotation to include the in-patient stroke team at St Luke’s Hospital in Market Harborough and the Community Integrated Neurology and Stroke Service (CINSS) in the East of Leicestershire.

As a stroke pathway within Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, quality improvement is at the heart of everything we do in line with our Trust wide ‘Step up to Great’ agenda. We are looking for highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working in a collaborative way with patients, families and the wider multi-disciplinary team to help us continue developing our services.

The successful candidates will work in specialist teams comprising of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Dieticians, Neuropsychologist, Speech and Language Therapists, Rehabilitation Consultants and Generic Rehabilitation Technical Instructors.

This 9 month rotation will include in-patient stroke rehabilitation and community stroke and neuro rehabilitation. You will support existing staff to provide Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention to deliver rehabilitation and timely discharges from our 15 bedded stroke ward and provide specialist integrated neuro-rehabilitation in Community and Outpatient settings to people with a wide range of neurological conditions and stroke.

These posts require dedicated autonomous Occupational Therapists with sound clinical experience in Stroke and Neurological rehabilitation. The successful candidate will be required to manage a complex caseload in a busy and supportive environment. Excellent organisational, communication and team working skills are required for this position along with the ability to supervise, support and train other members of the team. There will be opportunities to continue the development of specialist clinical skills alongside the growth of research, leadership and managerial skills.

Ideally you’ll be working 37.5hrs per week (part time working hours will also be considered).

Please note, this is a community post therefore driving and access to a vehicle for work purposes with business class insurance is essential.
