Band 7 First Contact Practitioner

The service is expanding after receiving significant investment to deliver a First Contact Practitioner (FCP) service and as a result of some additional funding we have a vacancy within the Primary Care Network of Hindley.

We are excited to invite applications from experienced MSK physiotherapists seeking to deliver the highest level of clinical care in general practice settings. The model has been designed to support musculoskeletal clinicians in primary care as well as provide a resilient framework for the future of FCP delivery.

The role will be based between locations within the Primary Care Network of Hindley. Within a GP practice you will be the first point of contact for patients with undiagnosed MSK disorders, and will need highly developed differential diagnostic skills to ensure patients are managed safely, efficiently and effectively. You will direct the care pathway for your patients autonomously, including assessment, provision of diagnosis, appropriate self-care advice or onward referral as indicated.

This role is designed to establish MSK expertise in Primary Care, and as such you will work closely in practices to build excellent working relationships with the PCN team members. You will bring expert MSK knowledge to your PCN, and as such will be a resource to the practice team. You will work closely with a Band 8a FCP who will provide support and training within the PCN and wider FCP team. You will need to have clear evidence of team working and the ability to develop effective and efficient services.

As a successful candidate you will need to have excellent communication skills and be able to negotiate and manage conflicting priorities. You will be able to demonstrate inspirational leadership from your previous leadership roles and be able to drive and deliver improved quality and clinical outcomes for patients. The ability to develop, establish and maintain positive relationships with others both internally and externally to the NHS is essential as is the need to be resilient, confident and committed. You must be able to travel across Trust independently.

The service is committed to CPD and encourages supervision at all levels. Your individual programme of professional development will be tailored to your interests and will relate to the knowledge and skills framework.

Full Time/Part time hours will be considered.

This post involves contact with patients and families face to face within a community setting. Therefore it cannot be ruled out that the postholder may come in to contact with people who have COVID-19, although the Trust provides PPE and takes all reasonable steps to ask patients with symptoms to cancel appointments.

An Enhanced DBS with Children's and Adults' Barred List checks will be obtained during pre-employment checks.
