This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience at a strategic leadership level working alongside other Heads of Service in the Children's Business Unit, supporting the General Manager and Clinical Lead for the Business Unit to deliver the best possible Offers for children and young people

Our public health integrated nursing service (PHINS) is a large service (circa 280 wte staff) made up of school nurses, health visitors, staff nurses and family support workers. It delivers services to children and young people from 0- 18years of age and is arranged in geographical multi-disciplinary teams so that One Team can meet the needs of a geographical population of children, young people and their families.

PHINS work with families across the spectrum of need from Universal services through to Partnership Plus and the service is fundamental to the safeguarding agenda across the Leeds system. Key partners in Early Help Hubs, PHI NS form an essential link across the whole system including children's centres and schools as well as our other Leeds Community Healthcare services, supporting children and their families to be safe and achieve the best possible outcomes.

The service is forward thinking, introducing digital initiatives such as Chat Health and has an active and well-supported social media presence through Facebook and even Instagram!

The 0-19 PHINS SPA based at Leeds Community Healthcare Headquarters, is the central supporting administrative team for PHINS.

The successful applicant will lead and manage 2 wte 8a operational service managers supporting and 1wte 8a Clinical lead for the PHINS portfolio.

The Head of Service role is part of the Children's Business Unit alongside other Heads of Service in the Children's Business unit and our finance, business and workforce partners. This is a strong, cohesive and supportive team and collectively delivers our services to children, young people and their families across Leeds.

We would be particularly excited to welcome applicants who have proven operational leadership and management skills, working at a senior level with strategic experience of working with partners across a system.

Confidence and experience of working with significant budgets is essential as is experience and appreciation of working to tight performance criteria that carry financial penalties.

Our new Head of Service needs to enjoy the reward (and sometimes challenge) of working with a large and diverse workforce and be prepared to challenge complacent practise.

Whilst experience of working in children and young people’s services is not essential, it is preferred. However, knowledge and understanding of the children and young people’s agenda - both locally and nationally is essential to the success of this post.
