Staff Nurse - Healthy Child Programme - 22.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity is available to join our Healthy Child Programme (HCP) in West Sussex. The role will involve working with the 0-5 age group of children and their families, delivering public health messages in response to the early interventions agenda.

You will be working under the guidance of the Health Visitors and will receive support and training from the team and from the Practice Educators.

HCP West Sussex offer a service to the 0-19 population and includes Specialist Community Public Health Nurses (Health Visiting and School Nursing), Staff Nurses, Community Nursery Nurses, School Health Assistants and Administrators. The teams work closely with West Sussex County Council’s Early Help service, and in partnership with schools, children and family centres, GPs, midwives and the voluntary sector.

The HCP service in West Sussex has achieved full Unicef Baby Friendly accreditation, so successful candidates will receive two days of infant feeding training, and will also have the opportunity to complete the promotional guides training and speech and language and communication training.

SCFT offers excellent support to staff, including training opportunities and career development. As a Staff Nurse working within the HCP you will be able to gain valuable experience of working with Health Visitors, should you wish to apply for the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse course at one of our partner universities in the future.

We are looking for an individual with a strong interest in public health, early intervention, teaching and safeguarding; an effective communicator who enjoys working as part of a team. A high degree of flexibility and the ability to work independently are required, and applicants must have a valid driving licence and a car available for work.
