It will involve communicating with staff at all levels so that our teams across North Devon can access evidence based, up to date information, to continuously improve our services to patients.

Are you eager to increase the uptake of services and the profile of the service?The post holder will be responsible for encouraging use of Knowledge and Library services and sharing the impact and importance of the wide ranging services we provide as well as supporting our dedicated and experienced team.

We are looking for an innovative, dynamic and forward thinking Knowledge and Library Services Manager to lead the knowledge and library service and team. The successful candidate will be a Chartered Librarian or have equivalent qualifications or considerable library and management experience.

The Knowledge and Library Services Manager will be responsible for the strategic development of a multi-disciplinary Knowledge and Library service for all staff, students and associated employees of Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust and associated organisations and users from local health providers. You will ensure that the service is fit for the future, supporting the transformation of the service in line with national direction, and is quality assured to the highest standards. You will support knowledge management, evidence based practice and research throughout the Trust contributing to the clinical governance framework and to learning and development.

You will develop knowledge and library services through the provision of relevant, current and cost-effective resources. You will provide services as close as possible to the point of need, to support the needs of all staff including clinical and managerial decision making, education and research, life-long learning, professional development and the practice of evidence-based patient care. You will establish best practice, breadth and parity of cost-effective service by close co-operation with other NHS libraries within the regional networks and negotiation with other sectors in North Devon.

You will, in co-operation with colleagues in the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust, manage the knowledge and library service aspects of the planned merger of Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust and Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust due to take effect on 01/02/2022 both in the lead up to the merger and after the merger has taken place. You will work towards a seamless change and joint provision of library resources and services across the new Trust as and when appropriate.

Excellent leadership, management and communication skills are needed. We are seeking someone who is self-motivated, energetic and effective with a passion for providing excellent knowledge and library services in an NHS setting. You will be willing to lead new initiatives with enthusiasm seeking to improve and expand services in consultation with service users, potential users and the knowledge and library team.
