Exciting leadership opportunity within the NHS North West Genomic Medicine Service Alliance.

Medical Director

Salary: Dedicated 5 PA commitment

The introduction of a national Genomic Medicine Service Alliance builds on the NHS contribution to the national 100,000 Genomes Project and the creation of 7 Genomic Laboratory Hubs to deliver a standardised and nationally commissioned test directory. The North West Genomic Medicine Service (GMS) Alliance will be hosted by Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

To realise all of our ambitions and transform exciting potential into impressive results, we need excellent leadership. The North West GMS Alliance is now seeking an experienced Medical Director.

Providing clinical leadership and direction for the medical component of the North West GMS Alliance you will ensure effective clinical input is provided to support both our mission. You will work in broadly across all stakeholders in the GMS Alliance, including collaborating with clinical partners, professional leads and patient representation. You will advocate for the North West GMS Alliance both internally and at external national and international medical groups and with other key stakeholder groups. This role plays a key role in maximising our influence and ability to shape our genomics agenda, ensuring alignment with priorities across the North West and nationally.

Championing high quality care, innovation and training, and with a commitment to the best outcomes for patients and development of the workforce you will ensure that our developing services are fit for the future.

About you

You’ll need to be a qualified Doctor with full GMC registration, and have significant experience as a Senior Clinical Leader with senior management experience.

You’ll have demonstrated an ability to deliver consistently on clinical effectiveness and patient safety and carry a strong track record of leading service improvement. We also expect you to be innovative, creative, focused on achievement and committed to collaboration, and have demonstrated exemplary behaviour consistent with the Trust values.
