Department:
Research
Location:

The commitment of our 17,100 staff is key to our success. We are one of the largest local employers and we aim to develop and support all our staff so they are able to deliver high quality, safe and efficient care. The 2018 NHS staff survey results show that we have one of the most engaged and motivated workforces in the NHS. We know this has a positive impact on the care provided to our patients.

Are you organised, collaborative, dynamic, results focused and self-motivated? Why not consider joining the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen in our team for a highly motivated individual with extensive experience in early phase clinical trials and sound project management skills.

The role is an amazing opportunity to work on flagship early phase clinical trials of experimental treatments. The post holder will be responsible for the efficient and professional set up and coordination of these complex trials.

In this role you will take a proactive approach to supporting study teams and Principal Investigators while coordinating the visits, data and expenses of participating patients. You will have frequent contact with study sponsors and support all monitoring and auditing activities for your studies.

You will be a point of contact for study Principal Investigators, sponsors and patients and so effective communication and team working skills are essential. You will be involved in ensuring that research undertaken safeguards the well-being of patients and is undertaken within Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Guidelines.

You will be working within the highly regulated environment of clinical research. With our Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) Phase I accreditation of our Guy’s Unit you will contribute to team-wide improvement projects designed to ensure we maintain our accreditation status. Accordingly you will gain experience in quality improvement, quality assurance, monitoring, audit and inspection.

We are actively looking for candidates who can bring skills from their previous roles into the work they will do with our service. Candidates with experience in the following areas will be well placed to apply: early phase clinical trials; monitoring; audit; inspection; data management; patient communication; site file and project management.

Comprehensive induction, orientation and training will be provided for the successful candidate. We will also ensure that you have tailored, individual personal development plans with support for further training.

GSTT is a dynamic organisation and research activity is dependent on continued funding from external sources, therefore changes in the core duties and responsibilities of this role may be required from time to time to meet the requirements of funders or the needs of the CRF, BRC or the Research and Development department.
