Consultants in Occupational Medicine

We are looking for an individual to fill these 2 posts, 1 a replacement and 1 a new post within the Occupational Health Service at St James’s University Hospital/ Leeds General Infirmary.

Our commitment to the Health and Wellbeing of our employees has led to us increasing our establishment of Occupational Health Consultants. We are looking to recruit 2 additional 10 PA full time Consultants with the potential to consider job share or part time working to work alongside our already established Consultant within our SEQOHS accredited service.

The Team supporting our existing Consultant comprises of two sessional OH Consultant Psychiatrists, an OH Clinical Psychologist, Specialist Practitioner Nurses and screening/immunisation nurses, Back Care Advisers and a team of secretarial and administrative support. We have a separate Health and Wellbeing Service whose workforce has been boosted during the Pandemic and works closely with OH providing advice, support and training to staff.

LTHT has a well-established staff health and wellbeing programme which comprises of a counselling service available via an EAP service and onsite Counsellors offering short, long term and crisis interventions. LTHT has also recruited a number of additional Psychologists based within Clinical Service Units providing dedicated support to staff.

The Trust has recently commenced direct access to EMDR and is due to commence shortly a pilot with Occupational Therapy students with the intention to add this role to our multi-disciplinary team. There is also access to a long established Staff Physiotherapy Service.

Applicants should possess excellent communication and team working skills and a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential. This post will provide an opportunity to be involved in future training of specialist registrars in Occupational Medicine. A strong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is also desirable.

The post will be based primarily at St James Hospital with a requirement to support some clinics on the Leeds General Infirmary site.

The successful applicants should be on the GMC Specialist Register for Occupational Medicine and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently undertaking a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
