Band 7 Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in Neurodisability - 0.8wte – Developmental Epilepsy Service – Fixed term (18 months)

An unexpected and exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Speech and Language Therapy Service and Neurodisability Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The pan-Trust Speech and Language Therapy Service delivers specialist level services to children and young people with complex medical conditions, working in partnership with local providers and families. This post offers the opportunity to be part of the Epilepsy Service, a multi-disciplinary assessment and diagnostic clinical service. You will join a dynamic Multi-Disciplinary Team with a broad range of specialist skills that delivers tertiary level care to children with complex medical conditions. Strong professional and clinical leadership, with well-established supervision systems, are all available.

A particular interest and experience in working with children with complex neurodevelopmental profiles is essential for this post. There is an opportunity to focus on the developmental impact of epilepsy and acquired language disorders. The post holder will have broad experience of assessment and intervention for children and young people with a range of language and communication difficulties. In addition, an understanding of Community Services and a range of Education Services (for example: Mainstream, Language Resource Bases, Special School) are complimentary to this post.

The post holder acts as an advisor to community speech and language therapists and other health and education professionals in areas related to the clinical specialties of the post. You will access supervision and in-house training opportunities with expert SLT practitioners within the specialist area.

As a Trust we have recently completed an ambitious development of new buildings that house new wards, teaching and research facilities. The Trust is now in its next phase of providing a new outpatient space.
