Vacancy for 1 x Non-Executive Director

We are seeking a Non-Executive Director with a focus on Strategy and Business Development to enhance our existing Board and support us in an increasingly challenging environment. We are looking for candidates who can live our values, support the ongoing development of the organization with the following;

Essential Experience / Qualifications:

You will have Board level experience gained in a large, complex, public facing organisation including:

  • Substantial successful experience of strategy development and performance at a senior leadership role in a large and/or complex organisation in the public or private sector.
  • Experience of critically appraising business options and developing the business in line with the Board’s strategy and appetite for risk and innovation and status as a social enterprise.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of contracting. Brings commercial experience from outside the NHS to the business and to service development.
  • A track record of leading and maintaining a fit for purpose physical and IT Estate from which to provide the safe delivery of services.
  • Track record of transformation, with the ability to link and resolve various strategic tensions e.g. Performance, finance, IT, investment etc. in the context of the healthcare market.
  • Degree level management or business qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience in successfully developing and leading teams
  • People Management and Strategy Experience
  • Experience of leading or managing significant cultural change and making a difference to the workforce. Along with the ability to create a culture that maximises the potential of the workforce to achieve the best outcomes for patients.
  • Experience of leading learning and capability development to meet the future needs of the service, develop potential, and learn from both success and failures.
  • Experience of working with equality, diversity and inclusion matters
  • Experience of managing workforce performance and quality.
  • Ability to challenge in a constructive way
  • Networking / influencing skills.
  • Aligned to CityCare values.

Desirable Experience:

Ideally you will have one or more of the following:

  • A demonstrable understanding of the strategic challenges facing the health economy
  • A demonstrable track record in effective partnership working experience or involvement in voluntary sector or community development projects.
  • Patient engagement and patient focus

Are able to attend board and sub-group meetings during the working day, with full participation in our 12 Board meetings each year, it is essential that you are confident in making a commitment of 2.5 days per month which will include participation in sub-groups of the Board. These appointments are for a term of 3 years, subject to a 6 month probationary period.

Annual remuneration is £7,557.75 per annum.

This post is subject to the ‘fit and proper person’ requirements which came into force for all NHS providers from 27th November 2014. These regulations play a major part in ensuring the accountability of directors (including non-executive directors) and other board level appointments; you will be required to complete the Fit & Proper Person’s Test on an annual basis
