Locum Consultant General Anaesthetist – 6 months

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant General Anaesthetist at the North Devon District Hospital. The opportunity is available pending substantive recruitment to expand the consultant body within Anaesthetics.

The successful candidate will join the current general anaesthetic rota 1:10 with a view to expand to 1:12 with future substantive appointment. The department also have nine Intensive Care Consultants and six Associate Specialists, six Specialty Grades and eleven core training/ACCS doctors. The department provides an anaesthetic, pain and critical care service to the residence of North Devon and North Cornwall, approximately a population of 165,000.

Day to day role includes cover for routine operating lists in typical District General practice, including some children (over 3), as well as on call duties (non resident) for Maternity Service, General theatres, & pain issues on the wards, alongside a resident SAS doctor. A second on call Consultant covers ITU, with a resident ITU doctor.

Applicants should be eligible for full registration with the GMC and must hold their Certificate of Completion of Training/CCT or be within 6 months of obtaining it, or hold equivalent qualifications/experience.
