Working as an Assistant Psychologist is more than just a job. It’s a chance to change lives for some of the most vulnerable people in society.

You will be working 37.5 hours a week on a 6 month contract alongside the clinical teams at Badby Park in Daventry to care for people with neurological illnesses, acquired brain and spinal cord injuries.

Reporting to a Registered Psychologist, you will join the psychology team where you will be guided and supervised as you assist with assessments, formulations and treatments to people within a group and 1-1 sets. You will create 1-to-1 rapports with service users to encourage engagement and empower recovery as they progress through the care pathway.

As a Psychologist Assistant, you will assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.

Other responsibilities:
  • Support therapeutic work with service users by co-facilitating groups, under supervision
  • Maintain information, case records and databases to assist in the co-ordination and organisation of the Psychology services. To maintain and help develop new systems of operating in the Psychology Department

To be successful in this role, you'll need

  • Knowledge of legislation and its implications for the profession and the service user groups we work with
  • Be able to receive supervision  from a qualified psychologist and be able to use the space to reflect and develop skills and experience, to maintain record of supervision 
  • To meet professional practice expectations and the BPS code of ethics
  • A BPS accredited recognised degree in Psychology conferring Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR) 
  • Experience of working with people in a similar or related field relevant to the post
  • Experience of having completed self directed research
