The Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (Cymru) is Wales’ exciting and innovative aeromedical/ car based pre-hospital and transfer service.

The Wales Air Ambulance Charity provide H145 & EC 135 helicopters and the service operates Audi Q7 road response vehicles. EMRTS also collaborates with Wales’ two HM Coastguard helicopters when necessary.

EMRTS delivers several levels of response which includes consultants, critical care practitioners and helicopter transfer practitioners and is committed to providing high quality clinical care in both the pre-hospital / and inter hospital transfer environments.

We are now recruiting for additional Consultants to join our teams across our four Welsh bases which include Caernarfon, Dafen, Welshpool and Cardiff. The service operates across the whole 24 hour period, night cover is provided from Cardiff.

To qualify for this exciting role you must be a substantive Consultant in Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia or Intensive Care Medicine who is fully registered with the GMC and who has significant demonstrable experience in the pre-hospital/transfer care setting, aligned to the personal specification. It is essential that you are ambitious, highly motivated and able to remain calm under pressure.

Whilst a base location will be agreed with the successful candidate, there may be a need to travel to our various bases across Wales for education and service delivery requirements and all candidates would be expected contribute to overnight cover.

Upon completion of appropriate training and a period of targeted clinical experience, it would be expected that you would then take up a full part in the duty rota at an agreed annualised sessional amount. The ability to work both day and night shifts is an essential part of the role.

Selection for this rewarding role is demanding and consists of a fitness test, several clinical scenario assessments as well as group work and a formal interview.

An assessment centre will be held in the early Autumn at our Dafen base.
