Job Reference: 425-A-21-49755

£82,096 - £110,683 per annum pro rata

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a paediatrician with a commitment to, and passion for, children’s and young people’s palliative care to be contracted up to 7.25 PAs. The appointee will be based at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, providing in-reach into Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.

Bluebell Wood and Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust have established a successful partnership to build an ambitious and forward-thinking multi-agency, multidisciplinary service that provides exemplary palliative care to children and young people (CYP) in South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire, North Nottinghamshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The successful applicant will join a team of dedicated professionals within the Hospice and the Children’s Hospital and will also be working very closely with paediatric professionals across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw, as well as with the regional children’s palliative care network. This role provides a significant opportunity to influence the future shape and direction of children’s palliative care in the region. In addition, there is a regular business, audit and CPD programme at Sheffield Children’s. Bluebell Wood also supports MDTs, audit and research.

Applicants must hold a full licence to practice with the GMC and be on the specialist register.

Applicants should possess, or be within 6 months of receiving, a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in paediatrics at the time of commencing the appointment and have had appropriate experience within paediatric units.

On appointment, the job title will be descriptive of the successful candidate’s experience and interest. For example, if CCT is in Paediatric Palliative Medicine the job title will be Consultant in Paediatric Palliative Medicine, but we are also interested in candidates with CCT in general paediatrics with either experience of or an interest in Paediatric Palliative Medicine/Care in which case the job title will be Consultant Paediatrician with a Special Interest in Palliative Medicine (SPIN PPM) or General Paediatrician.

Candidates wishing to work less than 7.25PA will also be considered for the post; modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with Bluebell Wood, the Trust and in consultation with consultant colleagues.
