Are you looking for a new challenge and an opportunity to shape the future? East Lancs Hospitals NHS Trust is looking to appoint 2 Consultant Respiratory Physicians.

We are seeking consultants with drive, commitment and enthusiasm who will bring clinical leadership to our multidisciplinary teams and provide high quality care to our patients.

The Respiratory Directorate provides a comprehensive service: with 4 inpatient wards, a Respiratory Assessment Unit carrying out plueral procedures, bronchoscopies and EBUS; and a Chest Clinic with a range of subspeciality clinics such as TB, Sleep and NIV, Lung Cancer, Asthma, ILD, and Cough. Some clinics are delivered at satelite clinics across East Lancashire.

You would be part of a large multiple disciplinary team of 10 conultants, middle and junior doctors; advanced nurse practitioners, specialist nurses and physiologists.

Our main sites, the Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General Hospital are both Teaching Hospitals. We have strong links with the University of Central Lancashire and the University of Lancaster we also have opportunities for research and teaching posts. We are actively involved in education for both undergraduates and postgraduates and contribute to the Health Education North West Training Programme.

These posts offer the opportunity to live in a diverse area, with excellent state and private schools, where beautiful locations including the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales, and the Forest of Bowland are on the doorstep. Cities such as Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool are readily accessible by public transport and by road.

These posts can be full or part time according to your preference. The successful candidate must hold or be within 6 months of being eligible for specialist registration in General (Internal) Medicine and Respiratory Medicine.

There is flexibility within the role and candidates will be supported in specialist interest within respiratory

The salary advertised is for 37.5 hours pw. Salaries will be pro-rata if the hours are less than this. For posts on AfC payscales, new entrants to the NHS will normally commence on the first pay point.

Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS)

If the role you are applying for is identified as either controlled or regulated activity as defined in in the Safeguarding vulnerable Groups Act (2006) any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.

The Healthcare sector is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

In line with other NHS trusts, the DBS check charge is paid by the successful candidate who has been offered the post. Candidates can choose to pay this over 1-3 months as a salary deduction. The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £44.00 and for a Standard Disclosure £27.00 which includes a small handling fee.
