We are delighted to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious individual to join our Adult Congenital Heart Disease Specialist Nurse team within the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre based at the Glenfield Hospital.

The East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre serves a catchment of 4.8 million people including Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Peterborough.

As a Specialist Nurse you will care for adults in inpatient and outpatient settings and also support their management at home. You will provide practical advice and support to ACHD patients and their families. You will have the opportunity to further develop your own knowledge and skills in this specialist area. You will contribute to existing practices such as multi-disciplinary clinics both at EMCHC and within our network hospitals, prepare patients for cardiac investigations and procedures, support transitional care and education programmes.

Our specialist nurses work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure best outcomes for patients with chronic conditions. You will need excellent communication skills to enable you to effectively engage in face to face consultations as well as telephone advice for both families and professionals. You will have the vision to further develop services to improve the care for patients within the East Midlands Congenital Heart Network.

We are looking for an exceptional Registered Nurse, who must have at least 3 years post registration experience, recent experience in cardiology/cardiac surgery and a desire to develop your skills further in this specialist area.

You will need to demonstrate experience in supporting families and the ability to work independently, taking ownership and responsibility for your work. Ideally you will hold a recognized teaching qualification, and have evidence of post registration development.

You will be provided with expert guidance and support and there will be opportunities to learn and develop your knowledge within a supportive environment.
