Are you a Registered Nurse or Midwife (practicing) with experience of working within a Healthcare environment?

At bpas, we’re looking for a Nurse (or Midwife) to come and join our passionate and dedicated team. As a Nurse (or Midwife) you’ll provide abortion and sexual health information and treatment to clients in a supportive manner, in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice, Abortion Act 1967, Health and Social Care Act and bpas’ policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities;

• Carry out point of care testing, including pregnancy tests and venipuncture if necessary, and to give results to the clients.
• Ensure that the client understands her options in relation to the pregnancy and, if choosing termination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act.
• Provide information on STI Testing, undertake tests and provide results and also discuss, inform and confirm the clients’ future choice of contraception, and provide/fit where relevant.
• Carefully check for and implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, including administering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervical preparation.
• Carry out post treatment checkups by assessing the physical condition of the client and discussing any concerns raised by the clients.
• Complete relevant paperwork and in the event of post treatment problems, make arrangements with the clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.
• Explain procedures, answer queries, check and complete documentation with clients throughout their care pathway.

About You

You will be a Registered Nurse or Midwife (practicing) with experience of general nursing, completing client documentation, working towards guidelines, policies and procedures and have experience of nurse admissions and discharges.

We are also looking for:

• Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH requirements and infection control
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication and listening skills which can be used across the whole organization
• Sound and accurate administrative competence with excellent attention to detail
• A team player, with a friendly and positive attitude and a commitment to a client-led service

Further Information

Salary: £24,793 to £29,943 per annum pro rata (please note that this is a BPAS Salary Band and the exact Agenda For Change Band values are not applicable. Please see ‘additional information’ for more details.)

Shift Pattern: 19.5 hours per week | Monday 9am-3pm, Tuesday 8.30am-4.30pm and Thursday 9am-3pm
