Job Specific Location/Base: St Marys Health Campus, Portsmouth

Hours per week:37.5 (part time applicants would be considered).

 

Job Summary

We are looking for experienced, motivated, enthusiastic physiotherapists to join our B8 Clinical Specialist team covering Portsmouth and some areas of Fareham & Gosport /South East Hants.

The role will cover lower limb referrals initially, with an expectation of combining this with a spinal caseload in the future. Interested candidates would need to be working at a Clinical Specialist level, or actively working towards achieving the level of expertise required. The successful candidate can be supported through advanced practice competencies as required.

 

Service Summary

We are an integrated MSK Physiotherapy, Pain and Podiatry (MPP) Service providing specialist diagnostic and care pathway planning for patients with complex MSK disorders. Referrals come into the service via MSK physiotherapy, FCP, GP or self-referral. The role involves the management of complex patients with musculoskeletal pain, or those who have not responded to primary care intervention. Clinical reasoning, investigative and analytical skills are required to ensure the appropriate medical investigation are undertaken, and to facilitate decision making regarding the most appropriate management options.

The Portsmouth service delivers clinics from St Mary’s Health Campus and Queen Alexandra Hospital. Cover for F&G/SE Hants is likely to be at Oak Park Community Clinic in Havant.

 

Job Responsibilities

The Clinical Specialist Physiotherapists/Podiatrists across Solent have quarterly workshops/peer support /injection training, and actively support more junior colleges within the primary care Physiotherapy service. Our integrated pathways afford opportunities to offer teaching within the wider Solent MPP team and also to GP’s.

The Specialist teams are key to shaping our service and are actively involved in Governance, clinical effectiveness, research, and supported Quality Improvement projects.
