We are looking for a Commercial Business Manager to lead on the design and implementation of a Phase 3 (P3) Trials initiative (closely linked with the NIHR Patient Recruitment Centre, Newcastle) within the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The NIHR PRC is based on the Campus for Ageing and Vitality, has pioneered digital capability and a participant recruitment engine necessary for remote access virtual clinical trials, and has been instrumental in initiating the first non Covid-19 virtual trial in the UK last year.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Commercial Enterprise and working closely with the Clinical Director of the NIHR PRC, the post holder will scope the opportunities for commercial development, including business models, funding opportunities and market analysis.

They will be responsible for refining virtual clinical trial processes and developing the digital offering including user acceptability testing and product pricing. They will contribute to marketing and branding and support the development of the recruitment engine. Understanding capacity and demand, scheduling and workflow will be part of the role. The individual will also be responsible for customer engagement, creating tailored virtual trial solutions that meet customers’ needs and executing on the offerings including commercial contracting, delivery, training and sign off.

The individual will have a good understanding of project management and hands-on experience in a clinical trial environment would be advantageous. They need to have previous commercial experience gained within the health sector or large private sector organisations in the healthcare, life sciences or medical devices field, including customer-facing roles.
