As part of Health Education England (South East), the Postgraduate Medical Education team based in Otterbourne is responsible for the planning, development, education and training of the medical healthcare and public health workforce across Hampshire, Dorset, Isle of Wight and Salisbury, and also provide medical training for the States of Jersey.

The Health Education England Wessex Appraisal Service (the Service) is an income generating, commissioned provider of comprehensive appraisal services for over 2,500 doctors across NHS England South East (Hampshire and the Isle of Wight), NHS England South West (Dorset), Jersey, Guernsey, Gibraltar and some smaller designated bodies and independent doctors. We believe that the key to improving the health and healthcare of patients is investment in the skills and values of the healthcare professionals who look after them.

Our bespoke medical appraisal services ensure that doctors can demonstrate that they meet the requirements for revalidation in accordance with the statutory requirements set by the General Medical Council. We develop and manage programmes for appraiser training and the quality assurance of appraisals according to the standards set by the General Medical Council (GMC) and NHS England.

The Health Education England Wessex Appraisal Service is an exciting and expanding Service responsible for enabling fully qualified doctors to demonstrate their continued competence and maintain and improve the standards of their patient care (through appraisal) in order to revalidate successfully with the General Medical Council.

To support our work we are looking to recruit an Appraisal Administrator who will provide comprehensive administrative support to the Service. Currently working from home, our office base is Otterbourne near Winchester.

The role will initially be Fixed Term until 31st March 2022.Applicants from within the NHS will be offered on a secondment basis only, agreement should be obtained from their employer prior to submitting the application.

Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 4 with a full-time starting salary of £21,892, with a pay step increase after 3 years’ service. These salaries are offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and the HEE Pay Progression Policy and are subject to annual cost of living review.
