An exciting opportunity has arisen for two full-time Community Practitioners to work as part of the Carlisle Community Mental Health Assessment and Recovery Team. The post is suitable for registered mental health nurses, learning disability nurses, occupational therapists or social workers; registered with NMC, HCPC or Social Work England.

You will be working as part of a large multi-disciplinary team providing assessment and treatment through care coordination to adults with severe and enduring mental health conditions, this could include:

  • depression which is difficult to treat, reoccurs or has a significant impact upon a person’s ability to get on with daily tasks
  • personality disorders
  • psychosis
  • eating disorders
  • specific disorders such as severe obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias and severe anxiety
  • people with a dual diagnosis such as learning disability, or substance abuse together with a mental health problem

The service is tailored to meet individual needs and the emphasis is on working with people to help them recover their levels of day-to-day functioning and reducing symptoms, in order that they can lead a more purposeful, meaningful and satisfying lifestyle. The treatment we provide follows NICE guidelines, and can be in the form of 1-1 intervention or group interventions, either at our base at Portland Square, at a person’s home, or in the community where appropriate. You will be working with clients who have multiple and complex needs, including issues around risk management. You will be required to possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with a strong commitment to the delivery of high quality, safe, patient care. You will also be required to demonstrate the ability to liaise with different agencies.

The core hours of the team are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm; however, there may also be opportunities for weekend working, which attracts enhanced payments.
