The Every Child a Talker [ECAT] initiative is an evidence-led, research-supported framework, which has been supported and valued in the City for over 10 years.
It is an exciting time to become the ECAT lead Speech & Language Therapist in Southampton: with opportunities to build on the impetus and momentum of the 10year old ECAT initiative in the city, which has been recognised and celebrated in the recent LGA (Local Government Agency) Peer Review.
Help us to embed and extend Speech, Language and Communication Pathways and support for children and families as part of our fantastic 0-19 integrated service. Including:
Providing a range of development training sessions for whole staff teams of EY practitioners, Foster Carers, Social Workers, Play Workers, Family Support Workers, Health Visitors, Midwives, Family Nurses.
Developing & improving the quality of Communication & Language Rich Learning Environments in EY settings.
Supporting parents to understand and adapt their own interactions to improve the Communication opportunities for their own children .
Linking with National Strategies such as Best Start & Hungry Little Minds and developing a local brand and narrative for Southampton Families
This is a Seconded post, working alongside Early Years Development team, including the EYAT (Early Years Advisory Teachers) Team.
The successful postholder will have access to supervision and support from the Solent Children’s Therapy team as well as ongoing opportunities for CPD for example: membership of CEN ‘Promoting Communication in the Early Years’; financial support for annual attendance at Talk to Your Baby conference (National Literacy Trust). Opportunities for a small amount of clinical work to maintain professional registration can also be considered.
