Portsmouth CAMHS is excited to announce that we have recently received new financial investment from the local Commissioning unit to strengthen and enhance the Eating Disorder pathway for children and young people within Portsmouth, who are referred to Portsmouth CAMHS.

This new investment means that the Portsmouth CAMHS team has an opportunity to recruit a full time CAMHS Developmental Community Mental Health Practitioner who will work as a fully integrated and valued clinical member of the newly established CAMHS Eating Disorder team based within the overall Portsmouth CAMHS team, within Falcon House, St James’ Hospital.. This will be a developmental post and the successful candidate will have a developmental plan devised by the Team Lead which will allow for progression from a Band 5 to Band 6 post within the team.

You will work under the guidance of the Eating Disorder Pathway Lead and work both within the clinical and child/young persons’ home setting. You will join other clinicians within the Eating Disorder to offer clinical assessments and individual, group and family-based therapeutic interventions to children and young people who are referred to the Portsmouth CAMHS Eating Disorder Team. The successful candidates will hold a clinical caseload as allocated by the pathway lead and be offered regular 1:1 line management as well as individual, team and therapeutic models’ clinical supervision. Whilst also having an opportunity to join clinical case discussion meetings, peer supervision groups and regular academic learning events.

In addition, we now have a CAMHS Academy competency framework that will support practitioners to develop within a children's mental health service and will therefore support those who may have passion and transferable skills but limited experience of working with children or young people.
