St Helena are looking for a Specialist Physiotherapist to work within the inpatient unit on a part time basis, providing cover on a Thursday and Friday (these are set days). 

The main pirorities of the role are to:

  • To deliver specialist palliative care physiotherapy support and advice to patients with a life limiting illness and their carers and those with complex end of life needs.  

  • To complete an expert assessment and manage a caseload of patients with complex/highly complex needs in The Hospice and in the community setting, using evidence- based/ patient- centred principles to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions. 

  • To assist in the planning, development and evaluation of the therapy elements of the Hospice MDTs, holding responsibility for defined projects.       

  • To provide specialist palliative care education and training to other healthcare professionals and students within and outside St Helena and promote evidence based practice.  

  • Lead on research and audit in specialist palliative care rehabilitation / therapy.  

  • To uphold the philosophy of St Helena providing informed choices for patients.
