Job Summary
Older Persons Mental Health welcomes newly qualified nurses, general and mental health trained professionals as we are currently recruiting Band 5 Registered Nurses who are looking to pursue and develop their careers within our Older Persons Mental Health Inpatient services. Whether you are a General Adult or Mental Health nurse we are looking for qualified nurses or those who are due to qualify in 2020, come and be part of our team!
You will embark on a challenging yet supportive career with training and career development opportunities. Our enthusiastic and dedicated multi-disciplinary teams work in a purpose-built unit in the tranquil grounds of St James Hospital, Portsmouth.
We are the primary provider of inpatient mental health services in Portsmouth and we are proud to offer a seamless journey for patients, based upon their needs and risks to ensure that care and treatment is assessed and provided in the least restrictive environment. A key factor in our success is the close working relationships between our community and inpatient services, who work together for the benefit of the patient and their family.
Service Summary
Solent’s Mental Health Services cover a variety of different services including inpatient facilities for both adults and older persons, community services including rehab, crisis and health and wellbeing, IAPT Talking Change and learning disabilities. We are looking for people that work to the organisational Values of Honesty, Everyone Counts, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork (HEART), show in your behaviour that you value people and the care you give to them.
Job Responsibilities
Fulfil the role of Named Nurse, thus co-ordinating and participating in holistic Care and Treatment Plans for a defined group of service users, working within the Care Programme Approach Framework.
Ensure continuing monitoring and review of care and treatment plans with relevant member of the multi disciplinary team.
Identify and work closely with the Community Care Co-ordinator/Community Mental Health Team on admission through to discharge for service users requiring community follow-up.
Provide advice, guidance, support and information to relatives and carers to ensure they are fully involved in the care planning process as appropriate.
Personal Skills/Qualities
We require motivated and caring individuals to assist in our commitment to providing and maintaining high standards of quality care that is both evidence based and person centered. You will need to have good communication and people skills along with a flexible and responsive approach as well as a genuine interest in working within this rewarding area of mental health nursing.
