Sheffield Clinical Genetics Service - Genetic Counsellor – 37.5 hours per week

A full time genetic counsellor post has become available within the Sheffield Clinical Genetics Service. This post is within the Regional Sheffield Clinical Genetics Service.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, well organised genetic counsellor to join our well established teams to provide a comprehensive service in this highly specialised area of work:

The post holder will provide a comprehensive genetic counselling service to the inhabitants of South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire & North Nottinghamshire. The post holder will have a varied case load and will be expected to travel to any of the peripheral clinics offered in the region. The successful applicant will need personal use of a car.

Initially, the post holder will also form part of a team working to support individuals and families access to Whole Genome Sequencing.

The service is located on the Northern General Hospital site.

We welcome applicants with current GCRB or HCPC Registration.

Consideration will also be given to appointing at band 6 for suitably qualified candidates with a view to progression to band 7 once registration has been achieved.

In line with other NHS Organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region a successful candidate appointed into a post within this Trust will be required to pay the DBS check fee (£45). This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
