The NHS 111 Wales service has played a pivotal role in the Covid-19 effort – now it’s expanding and we’re looking for nurses and paramedics to join us on the journey.

We’re recruiting into the NHS 111 Wales service, the completely free way to contact the NHS in Wales for health advice, information and access to urgent care, which first launched in 2016 and which is currently being rolled out across Wales.

Instead of caring for patients in a face to face setting, you’ll use your expert clinical knowledge to assess patients over the telephone and determine what they do next, be it self-care, a visit to their GP or an emergency ambulance.

If you’re looking to progress in your nursing or paramedic career, becoming a Clinical Advisor for the NHS 111 Wales service will test your mettle in a completely different way.

This is a fast-paced role in which you’ll draw upon your clinical assessment skills to help and advise a broad spectrum of patients; from minor ailments to injuries to complex and urgent conditions.

At our Clinical Contact Centres, you could find yourself working alongside other health professionals, including GPs and pharmacists, to ensure our patients get the help they need as efficiently as possible, as well as to hone and develop your skills in a fresh environment.

As a Band 6 Clinical Advisor, you’ll have the autonomy to make decisions but be supported by our experienced team of senior clinical advisors and practice coaches.

We’re looking for Clinical Advisors in St Asaph, Denbighshire, and Cwmbran, Torfaen, but there’s also an opportunity to work remotely in addition to your attendance at the Clinical Contact Centre.
The service is busiest during evenings/weekends and nights so we’re looking for individuals who are able to work predominately during these hours.

In exchange, we can offer a range of contracted hours per week and a comprehensive training programme which supports nurse revalidation and CPD requirements.

Induction training for this post will comprise of an initial four-week programme, which will be a combination of office hours and shift work. This will be followed six weeks later by a further two weeks as above. Please note that the induction weeks are full time and you need to be able to commit to both.

This is an exciting time for the growth of the NHS 111 Wales service, including for its sister website, which had the highest number of visits in 2020 since its creation and which continues to evolve.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Please note there are vacancies for both paramedics and nurses, so please apply on the relevant advert.

Closing date: 21/02/21
Start date: 12/04/21
