We are seeking a Senior Clinical Psychologist to join our Dementia Well-Being Team in Hywel Dda University Health Board. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to be part of developing and delivering a new service for our population across the counties of Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion.
To support delivery of the Dementia Action Plan for Wales 2018-2022, West Wales is establishing an integrated Dementia Wellbeing Service so there is wrap-around support for people living with dementia & their families to ensure there are increasing levels of expertise available following on from receiving a diagnosis and through the journey of dementia to maintain and enhance people’s quality of life.
To this end a range of new dedicated multidisciplinary leadership roles (psychologist/speech and language therapist/ dietician/advanced scope pharmacist/ advanced scope occupational therapist/ advanced nurse practitioners) have been created to afford:
The intention is that this community team innovates across traditional boundaries, flexibly sharing their expertise, extending influence both into people’s own homes and within health, housing and social care services, at primary, secondary and tertiary care levels.
In addition the expectation is that the professionals in this team will champion equality and rights for this client group and their carers and work in close alignment with an enhanced number of Dementia Navigators and dedicated dementia support professionals for families where there is a person living with dementia, situated within locality teams/GP clusters.
Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate ability to work as an expert practitioner in the field of dementia, with demonstrable ability in clinical reasoning, mentoring and influencing the practice of others.
We are seeking applicants with excellent formulation skills and well established skills in drawing on, and creatively applying, a range of relevant psychological models in this area.
You will work alongside and under the supervision of the 8b Clinical Psychologist who is the lead for the community Dementia Wellbeing Service.
Applications are invited from Clinical Psychologists experienced in dementia, who are interested in working as part of multidisciplinary team as well as an Older People’s Mental Health Psychology service which actively supports professional development and is committed to excellent patient care and service improvement and with strong links to the South Wales Clinical Psychology Doctorate training programme.
The postholder will be expected to travel across the Health Board to visit patients at home and between sites. Mileage allowance is payable and pool cars and a lease car scheme is available.
