CHIEF BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
Hours: 37.5 per week

An exciting opportunity to join the Clinical Engineering team has arisen at University Hospitals Dorset NHS Trust. We are looking for a passionate, committed and experienced candidate for the key post of Chief Technician to lead the workshop team based on the Poole Hospital site. Primary duties include the operational management of the department’s technical team in meeting departmental objectives and managing customer requirements and expectations.
The Clinical Engineering Department is part of University Hospitals Dorset, working across both Poole and the Royal Bournemouth Hospitals, and is responsible for the maintenance and repair of a diverse range of medical equipment for two General Hospitals and many Healthcare facilities across Dorset. The Clinical Engineering Team at Poole Hospital comprises 11 staff, each playing an important role in ensuring that the hospital’s medical devices are safely maintained.
You will have a degree in Electronics/Bio-Medical Engineering or equivalent qualification and comparable experience as well as significant relevant technical experience in the servicing, repair and calibration of medical devices. You will also have experience in the supervision and management of small teams, and will ideally have a supervisory management qualification.
You will have sound troubleshooting and repair skills, and have operational responsibility for asset management, commissioning of new equipment, and routine scheduled maintenance of medical and communications devices. You are customer focussed, proficient with IT systems and you have good written/verbal communications.
Please note: if this job requires you to have a DBS check to enable you to properly fulfil the requirements of the job, on appointment you will be required to repay the cost of obtaining a DBS check and this amount will be reclaimed from your salary.
