An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Assistant Director of Financial to join Nottingham University Hospital’s award winning finance department.

In September 2019 the Department of Health & Social Care announced a long-term, rolling programme of investment in health infrastructure, which included money to build new hospitals, modernise primary care estate, invest in new diagnostics and technology, and help eradicate critical safety issues in the NHS estate. The Health Infrastructure Plan (HIP) is a new hospital building programme to ensure the NHS’ hospital estate can provide world-class healthcare services. They committed to fund and build 40 new hospitals over the next ten years. Six major projects were given the go-ahead immediately (HIP1 wave 1), with a further 21 schemes in the second wave (HIP2); we are one of those organisations and this scheme will allow us to take forward our exciting Tomorrow’s NUH reconfiguration programme.

This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional individual to be part of a once in a generation development of one of the largest HIP2 schemes. This role will also help shape the financial strategy for our services and will be response for maintaining the Long Term Financial Plan (LTFM).

You may be an existing senior manager who is keen to further develop your career and national reputation for achieving success in one of the UK’s largest and most complex organisations. Skilled at delivering change through people, you are an inspiring and insightful leader with outstanding communication skills.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate how they have delivered significant successes that have led to financial improvement. You will be an experienced leader working with in the NHS or within an equally complex environment. Leadership, team-working and influencing skills are essential. You will be a team player and possess drive and innovation with a real commitment to taking your teams forward and contributing to the Trust’s success.

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust employs around 18,000 staff across our QMC and City Campus. We provide secondary and tertiary services to a population of around 2.5 million across the East Midlands.

  • Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incurs a cost dependent on the level of check required (£45 for enhanced and £28 for standard). I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of a DBS check if it is required (by deduction from first month’s pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse NUH NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
