The Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust Estate’s Department require has 2 posts available:-

 

Post 1 - An Electrical Estates Technician who will be required to work day shift Monday to Friday based at the Chapel Allerton site.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake maintenance and repairs on various items of plant, equipment and services. Applicants must demonstrate flexibility and initiative when dealing with a wide range of engineering services and will have experience maintaining equipment as part of a planned preventative maintenance system.

Applicants must have served a Electrical engineering apprenticeship and have achieved HND or demonstrable equivalent experience. Previous experience in a Hospital maintenance environment is desirable.

The successful candidate will have good communication skills to work with various levels of staff across the Trust and be expected to carry out all duties in an efficient and effective manner.

 

Post 2 - A Mechanical Estates Technician who will be required to work day shift Monday to Friday based at Chapel Allerton site.

 

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is looking for one Band 5 Mechanical Estates Technician to join the maintenance team here at St James University Hospital.

The successful applicant will join a team of staff who provide engineering coverage to the hospital 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

 

The Estates Technician must come from a mechanical background and will be expected to carry out maintenance, fault finding, repairs and installation work on all facilities, plant and equipment throughout the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Estate. They will also act as the Trust representative in the absence of the Estates Officer or when requested to do so as and when the need arises by line management.

 

Working on the full range of Estates Services equipment, they will undertake activities which require comparison of a range of options, complex problems requiring analysis to resolve technical issues on multifaceted equipment/situations many of which have a direct impact on patient safety and the built environment. Responsible for calibration and fault finding on a wide range of engineering plant and equipment including, steam raising plant and associated equipment, medical gas systems, , building services controls, heating and ventilation control systems and refrigeration plant.

 

Undertake condition surveys, evaluating inspection reports and maintenance repairs, improvement and capital works across the Trust as directed by management, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures.

 

Plan and organise major interruptions, maintenance activities and co-ordinate the work of others. Provide practical training to others and evaluate work.

 

The successful applicants will be accountable directly to an Estates Officer and may be asked to move to other sites within the Trust depending on the needs of the Trust.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

Essential Requirements

 

HND or equivalent experience or willing to work towards a HND

Or

Course 596 Plumbing Advanced Certificate

Or

Course 569 Plumbing Craft Certificate

Or

Equivalent NVQ Level 3 Craft Certificate

And

Previous experience working on new installations, control systems, plant and equipment breakdowns, fault finding, rectifications and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a wide range of technical mechanical, steam raising and electrical plant and equipment found in a typical complex engineering or healthcare environment.
