Anaesthetics / Scrub / Recovery / Dual Role

Are you a motivated, dynamic and caring Operating Department Practitioner or Nurse who is proud to demonstrate a continuous high standard of clinical practice, then Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust would really like to hear from you!!

We have a number of vacancies for enthusiastic and dynamic Professionals within our busy theatre suites.

We offer a wide range of surgical specialties Ophthalmics, Orthopedics & Trauma , General surgery including Colorectal , Upper GI , Gynecology, Breast , ENT & Urology as well as providing 24 hour emergency surgery, Obstetrics & Critical care services for one of the UK’s fastest growing and vibrant towns.

We are a friendly team with a strong regional reputation for best practice. We welcome new staff and will provide you with a comprehensive induction programme to support your new role. Regular CPD will be provided to continually update and introduce you to new techniques and best practice. To encourage this over the past 12 months we have developed our own dedicated simulation and clinical training Theatre with our operating suite.

Applications are invited from newly qualified ODPs or Nurses with a real interest in working in the Perioperative environment or those with a little more experience who wish to join and assist in maintaining and developing the best practice and peri operative care for our patients.

You will need to be a Registered Operating Department Practitioner or Registered Nurse. Applications will be considered from Students ODP or Student Nurses graduating in 2021. To be considered for an Anaesthetic role, you will need to have a recognised post graduate anaesthetic qualification.

Theatre services within the trust are currently provided on Warrington, Sir Captain Tom Moore Treatment Centre and Halton sites. You will be predominantly based at our Halton site however rotation over to our Warrington site may be expected to provide cover to lists being run at our emergency and critical care site.

All successful candidates will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of perioperative care programs. All applicants will be expected to possess excellent communication and team working qualities with a willingness to learn new skills. You should also thrive on working in a busy environment and be forward thinking and passionate about providing a high standard of care. Practitioners will be team players with a flexible attitude to the service requirements, and a defined awareness of the importance of service delivery. Multi skilling is encouraged and those wishing to broaden their range of clinical skills will be supported. We would welcome individuals who have an enthusiastic approach to teaching students and junior members of staff.

The successful candidate must also be prepared to participate in E-Roster shift work, nights, unsocial hours and on call to cover the 24/7 period across a 7 day pattern. On Call commitment attracts additional payment agreed at 2020/21 AfC rates.

Warrington Hospital

There are eight Theatres on the Warrington acute site which provides services for the following specialities: Gynaecology, Obstetrics and General Surgery including laparoscopic surgery, Urology, Breast Surgery, ENT, Dental, Colorectal including laparoscopic surgery, Ophthalmic, Trauma & Orthopaedic, and Paediatrics.

We also provide a 24 hour Trauma, Obstetric and Emergency service. As part of this service you will be required to support emergencies and provide an out of hour’s service including rotation onto nights and an on call Rota.

Halton Hospital

Halton is our Elective Surgery Hospital which has a busy 4 Theatre department providing patient services for a broad range of surgical specialities including General, Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Breast, Dental, Ophthalmics and Chronic Pain. It is situated adjacent to our Elective Orthopaedic Hospital the Sir Captain Tom Moore Treatment Centre

The SCTMTC has a modern Canadian design and is a four theatre suite which provides a light, spacious and free flowing area which enhances the everyday work environment for staff and Clinicians alike. The SCTMTC covers many aspects of elective Orthopaedic Surgery including Joint Arthroplasty, Upper limb, Foot and Ankle, Sport injury, Spinal and Trauma.
